One Piece Booster Box

What is One Piece ?

One Piece (jap. ONE PIECE, Wan Pisu) is an internationally successful manga series by Japanese mangaka Eiichiro Oda that has been running since 1997 and has also been adapted as an anime for television and cinema.

It has been published weekly in Shukan Shonen Jump since 1997. The individual chapters are also published in collected editions bundled by Shueisha, breaking publication records on several occasions, including the highest initial print run of a book in Japan and the first book to sell over three million copies.

With more than 460 million copies shipped worldwide as of December 2019, including about 390 million in Japan, it is the best-selling manga series in history.

One Piece as a Card Game !

The ONE PIECE Card Game is a game in which you build your own deck and fight against an opponent. Choose your favorite cards and characters and develop your strategy! Each deck in One Piece has a commander who has his own space on the playing field. You can summon it at any time as long as you can afford it. If this card is defeated, it can be revived at any time, but the cost increases each time.

The commander also determines all the cards that can be used in a deck. Monkey D. Luffy, for example, has the color red - accordingly, only cards of this color can be used. This sounds very restrictive at first, but we'll have to wait and see how this mechanic plays out in practice.

The following commanders are available at the start:

Monkey D. Luffy
Eustass Kid
Sir Crocodile
Kaido

These are the most important game mechanics of the One Piece card game!

Pokémon meets Magic: The commander system is reminiscent of Magic the Gathering, but in One Piece it is linked to a mechanic from the Pokémon card game: Prize cards. Each time your commander takes damage, you can draw a so-called "life card" - the number depends on the commander in question. If you run out of life cards, you lose the game.

The so-called "Don!!! cards" act as an energy resource, in other words as mana. You draw two of them each round, which you can use to play other cards. You can also attach them to another card to unlock special maneuvers.
